

EnviroStars was originally created as a service of the Local
Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County in 1995.
Since that time additional counties in the region have adopted
the program in order to offer EnviroStars certification to their
local businesses.
Puget
Soundkeeper Alliance, a non-profit environmental organization,
joined with interested counties to help spread the program. This
group of partners has become the regional EnviroStars
Cooperative (Co-op). Washington
Department of Ecology has provided supplemental funding to help
counties implement the EnviroStars program.
